Home Residential Existing Homes New Construction Building a new home is the perfect time to add a pre-wire design to your floor plan. Pre-wiring your home with a structured wire network now will enable you to keep up with changing technology without having to re-wire in the future. Pre-wiring To avoid having to add or re-cable in the future we recommend each of your structured wire outlets consist of (2) CAT 5E and (2) RG6 cables. If you anticipate having an entertainment center or satellite TV you should plan on having an extra phone line installed to order "pay per view". Also keep in mind to install adequate lightning protection. These are just a couple of suggestions we will go over with you when we design your structured wire network. Click Pictures to enlarge Power Requirements The structured wire network outlets themselves do not require power, however many of the products you connect to them do. Pre-planning the location of wall outlets close to electrical outlets will prevent the need for extension cords. The distribution panel will require power only if you plan on having a router, telephone system or DVD/video player. A licensed electrician will be needed to install a 120VAC (60Hz grounded) outlet to a dedicated 15 amp breaker. Scheduling After the plumber and electrician have completed their initial installs we can coordinate directly through you or your builder to allow enough time to finish the pre-wire portion of the structured wire network. The pre-wiring should take between 8-16 hours. This must be completed before the dry wall goes up. Terminating Outlets Once the dry wall is completed we will come back to terminate all structured wire network outlets and the distribution panel. After the cables are terminated we will label and test all locations. Clear, easy to follow labeling at the distribution panel and wall outlets will make it very easy to connect different devices in the future. Technical Support If for any reason you need help after the installation is complete you can call or e-mail us for technical assistance. A copy of your floor plan will be kept on file indefinitely so we may better assist you with your questions and future needs. Guarantee We test all cables in the structured wire network to guarantee they are functioning properly and do not exceed the length requirements in accordance with the ANSI TIA/EIA-570-A "Residential Telecommunications Cabling Standard". We also perform a TIA Certification test for computer network cables. Home Residential Existing Homes
